WHAT ARE NEUROMODULATORS?
Neuromodulators (Botox, Dysport) work by relaxing the muscle contraction underneath the skin in order to soften the lines created by repetitive facial muscle movements. As we age, skin loses its collagen and elastin, and dynamic wrinkles begin to form from repetitive movements like frowning and squinting. Neuromodulators are an effective treatment for subtly smoothing the appearance of lines and wrinkles and can help prevent new lines from forming.
Botox and Dysport are FDA-approved products that are injected into designated facial muscle with a specific number of units, to help soften the lines between your brows, forehead, and “crow’s feet” around the eyes. They can also be used in many other areas to treat chin dimpling, perioral lip lines (“smoker’s lines”), “bunny lines” on the nose, and areas along the jaw and neck, etc.
WHAT TO EXPECT AT YOUR APPOINTMENT
You will have a consultation with your provider to determine that you are a good candidate for neuromodulator treatment. They will evaluate your areas of concern and review your medical history. An individualized, comprehensive, full face treatment plan will be provided.
Pricing is $13 per unit, and the number of units is dependent on many individualized factors including muscle strength, severity of lines, and the overall desired results. Common treatment areas and normal ranges of units are as follows, but please keep in mind that this is a general guideline, and your treatment will be designed by your provider.
FOREHEAD LINES (WHEN YOUR RAISE YOUR BROWS): $13/UNIT, 10-20 UNITS
FROWN/SCOWL LINES (IN BETWEEN YOUR BROWS): $13/UNIT, 15-30 UNITS
CROW’S FEET (LINES AROUND YOUR EYES): $13/UNIT, 6-15 UNITS PER EYE
EYEBROW LIFT: $13/UNIT, 2-5 UNITS PER EYE
BUNNY LINES (WHEN SCRUNCHING YOUR NOSE): $13/UNIT, 4-10 UNITS
DIMPLED CHIN (ORANGE PEEL APPEARANCE): $13/UNIT, 2-8 UNITS
PERIORAL LINES (SMOKER’S LINES/WHEN PUCKERING LIPS): $13/UNIT, 3-8 UNITS
LIP FLIP (ADDING SUBTLE VOLUME): $100 PER TREATMENT
*ADDITIONAL TREATMENT AREAS INCLUDE MASSETERS (JAW MUSCLES WHEN CLENCHING) FOR FACIAL SLIMMING OR TO PREVENT TIGHT CLENCHING, DOWNTURNED SMILE/CORNERS OF THE MOUTH, “GUMMY SMILE”, PLATYSMAL BANDS (NECK/JAWLINE). THESE AREAS VARY GREATLY AND REQUIRE CONSULTATION.
NEUROMODULATOR TREATMENT AND AFTERCARE
This is a non-surgical and minimally invasive treatment option that requires almost no downtime or recovery time. The treatment can be performed in as little as 15 minutes will little to no discomfort. You can return to your normal daily activities directly after your treatment, while avoiding lying down for 4 hours and no exercise for 24 hours.
There may be slight redness/ swelling at the injection site that typically resolves within 30 minutes post injection. Bruising is possible. Please schedule your appointment at least 4 weeks before any important events. You will receive detailed pre and post procedure instructions upon booking your appointment.
You will start to notice decreased movement and smoothing effects as soon as 2-3 days, but the full effect of the treatment will be at 14 days. Most patients return for treatment every 3-4 months, but duration can vary from patient to patient.
